WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE SO EMOTIONAL?

This recent collection explores the ways women and gender minorities are pressured to soften their voices, framing emotions like anger or outrage as unwelcome. Inspired by conversations from my first solo exhibition, these paintings examine how tone is policed to shift focus away from the message itself. A candy-coloured palette reflects the demand for pleasantness, contrasting with the raw emotions beneath – highlighting the tension between expression and societal expectation.
